Interested in the Academy of Fine Arts? The next shadowing opportunity is Nov. 13th from 8-10am. Visit the AFA website at https://www.fcpsartsacademy.org/visit-the-afa.html to sign up for a shadowing appointment. Students must have their own transportation arranged to participate.

This week’s student of the week is Megan Schulien. Megan was nominated by Ms. Showalter because Megan adds exuberance to every Creative Writing class. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she helps to spread her passion for writing to both classmates and club members. For our Poetry Out Loud unit, Megan not only performed a very personal and meaningful piece, but she also made cheesy biscuits for our entire class to make the poem performance day a little brighter and more comfortable. She encouraged other students and even hugged one who became emotional after reading his poem. As club president, Megan selects fun activities for Friday meetings and has been a major reason the club has grown to 60 members. She definitely exemplifies the characteristics of an OHS bear. As this week’s student of the week, Megan will receive a coupon for one free admission to an Oakdale High School event. Way to go Megan!

The boys soccer team advanced to their 2nd consecutive state semifinals with a 4-3 penalty kick win over North Harford. Riley Daiger scored twice and Aiden Wright also scored. Thanks to the great turnout by the student section,

There will be an interest meeting at 6 pm on Nov. 11th in the band room for all students interested in joining this year’s Indoor Percussion/Guard program. All students are welcomed to attend and find out how to join. No experience necessary!

The Marching Band participated in the USBands Regional competition over the weekend. After making the Finals round for the first time, earned a 10th place ranking in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Congratulations for all of your hard work and dedication! We are very proud of you
