Top Gifts for 2023

Christmas is finally here, and while people are decorating their trees, baking cookies, and spending time with family, many teens are starting to make their Christmas list, filling it up with tons of things they look forward to opening on Christmas day. Sophomore Temi Oweh, is one of the many that look forward to Christmas, as he stated, “I enjoy it a lot.” But what do teens want for Christmas nowadays?

Whether it's piles of cash or gift cards, this is something that many teens desire to have this Christmas.
Money

When it comes to the one thing that people want for Christmas, the majority of people want money. It may seem boring to some, but it’s a great gift for many teens who want to buy something instead of big gifts. Sophomore at Oakdale Grace Kompaore, is one of the people that asked for money this Christmas, she explained, “I need money, I like to spend money on myself and give myself self-care.”

Airpods have been a popular hit for many years during Christmas time. This year, there has been a rise in demand over Airpods, with the recent kind being Airpods pro 2, mainly known for its good sound quality and noise cancellation. Sophomore Diego Ruano’s number one thing he wants for Christmas is Airpods: “I need new headphones,” he mentioned, “and I don’t want to go with the wired ones because I always get them tangled up.” Ruano is one of many students that have Airpods on their Christmas list.

Even though the majority of kids and teens own a phone with a camera built in to it, most people still want a digital or printable camera to be able to capture many memories without worrying about how much storage on their phone. Sophomore Olivia Nicodemus, expressed,“I want to be able to take photos of my friends [since] my phone storage is full.”

With all of this new technology coming out like phones and computers,  it makes us wonder where the future of our gifts might go.  Sophomore Eliot Bock answered, “I guess the devices that people want might change, but I feel like people are still going to want other things.”

Almost everyone enjoys presents for Christmas. In fact, it is a very memorable part of the Christmas season, with people spreading joy by getting thoughtful gifts. However, many teens believe that presents aren’t the most important. Spending time with family and friends is what most teens believe’s the most important part of Christmas. With Christmas being just around the corner, many teens are hoping to get what they really want for Christmas.
