Keeping a Family Together With the Purple Leash

Purina
Tamron Hall and her kid showed their support by wearing purple.

Purina’s mission is to bring and keep pets and people together, while the RedRover mission is to bring people and their pets from crisis to care. The Purple Leash project was started back in 2019 to keep survivors of domestic abuse together with their pet. The Purple Leash Project is a year-round endeavor but because October is known as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the two companies work to bring awareness to the project.

Every donation helps them out with the necessities for the animals. They are grateful for the donations they’ve received and have been able to get people and their pets to safety together. Other ways they help is by volunteering and donating to shelters’ wishlists.

The Purina team has a  goal “to see 25% of U.S domestic violence shelters become pet-friendly by 2025.”

The team continues,“We believe pets and people are better together.”

While there are a lot of people who will donate to them, “nearly half of domestic violence victims stay in abusive relationships because they don’t want to leave their pets behind.”

This shows they made it and how scared people can be when their pets get involved in these issues. That’s why more than half are scared to leave.

RedRover is another team that helps out with the Purple Leash project. . They help out with the issues going on. to help people in these situations. One thing they did was wear purple on October 19th to show support.

Ella Vogt, a Senior, expressed that she  “would be devastated, it would be like losing family” if she had to get rid of her pet.

This is why so many people in America who own pets are scared to leave, they are worried about their pets. They want to be with them but they can’t take them  in some of the safe homes, as they are not pet-friendly. They always say “Walk, Heal,Together.”
