Talk of Oakdale: Homecoming

Every other week, Lexi Parisi and Peyton Whyte meet with other Oakdale students to discuss relevant topics. There is no specific genre to this podcast or consistent topic, the focus is mainly on current events of what is going on at school and in their personal lives. Lexi and Peyton, along with their guests, hope to bring entertainment to the student body at Oakdale High School, while also providing information on various topics. This podcast provides an alternative to articles, where students can listen and relate to brief conversations of what is happening in and outside of school. They plan to cover topics such as sports, clubs, holidays, casual life, music, and more.

For those who have been keeping up with the podcast this term, we have decided to delay the name change until next semester. Homecoming week has come to an end and this week Lexi Parisi and Peyton Whyte review the dance. They interview one freshman, Jayna Day, and one senior, Charvi Bethu. They dug to discover the difference between the underclassman and upperclassman experience. This was quickly derived, as it turned out to be Bethu’s first year attending Homecoming as well. They discussed getting ready before Homecoming and the struggle of finding a dress, managaning time throughout the day, and plans before and after. As they have experienced multiple Homecomings and Prom, Parisi and Whyte explain the past events to their guests. They get into a lengthy discussion with Bethu over whether or not Prom is better than Homecoming. The final conclusion is that for freshmen or seniors, Homecoming is an experience for every grade level and there is no real difference. Only the amount of time that they stay at the actual dance differs.
