The Hunger Games series has come to a sad end. Mockingjay Part 2 was everything I had expected. The movie started off with a follow up scene that connected part 1 and part 2 together. Katniss was in a doctor’s room getting her neck, which Peeta bruised, examined.
The movie was all about Katniss and the rebels trying of kill President Snow and helping Peeta realize what is real and what is not real.
Helen Contreras, a Sophomore at Oakdale High School, enjoyed the movie as much as I did. She stated, “I loved it! I thought it was a good end to the Hunger Games Trilogy, and I will definitely buy the movie once it is in stores.”
SPOILER ALERT!!! One of the saddest parts of the movie was when the whole crew — Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Finnick, Pollux (An Avox and Katniss’s cameraman), and his brother — were underground fighting monsters. Not only did Pollux’s brother die but FINNICK IS DEAD!!!! The worst part is that Finnick got married the day before, and his wife (Annie) is pregnant.
Although I loved the movie, and the mix between the drama and love in Katniss’ life, other people who saw the movie do not particularly feel the same way. Madison Lawson, a Senior at OHS, stated, “I didn’t like the ending. Katniss is this strong warrior, and to see her blackout at the brink of the battle was a buzz kill. I wanted to watch her exact her revenge on President Snow, and the new enemy, President Alma Coin. All of these people died for her, and to see her simply shoot one arrow, ending the war once and for all, is improbable. I wanted to watch her rise to the occasion for once, be a leader. Not to mention, the last 20 minutes of the movie were spent watching her hide away in her hometown, crying over her sister Primrose.”
Clearly some people may love the movie, and others may feel it wasn’t the best out of the Trilogy. I highly recommend it and give it a four out of five stars! If you have time over the holiday break, go find out if Katniss stays with Peeta, her partner in crime, or ends up with Gale, her childhood love.
