The National Organization for Women (NOW) Club has successfully sold more than 70 stickers to raise money for the Frederick Heartly House, a domestic violence shelter.

The Frederick Heartly House is an abuse protection shelter located in downtown Frederick. Established in 1979. Heartly House is the sole organization in Frederick dedicated to helping victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, and child abuse. The club wants to offer support to Heartly House in order to help bring this safe environment to Oakdale. The stickers help to raise awareness by featuring designs and supportive illustrations covering these topics.

The NOW club at Oakdale is one part of the nationwide organization being recognized in all 50 states. The goal for the club at Oakdale is to bring awareness to a multitude of issues such as reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, racial justice, and constitutional equality. Selling stickers helps spread the word and raise awareness about these issues. The club still has a large amount of stickers remaining and plans on continuing to sell them to spread awareness.

Ms. Maggie George, an art teacher at Oakdale, is new to the NOW club and the current advisor: “As the new advisor for this club, I was not sure what to expect from this fundraiser,” Ms. George expressed when asked about the projected outcome of the stickers.

Overall, the fundraiser sales from the stickers has been an astounding success, with over one hundred dollars raised. “I am extremely happy with how it went,” Ms. George expressed about the results.

If you want one they will be sold at “Chicago” this weekend, before the show and during intermission.
