The Oakdale field hockey team has a chance at playoffs once again this season!

Led by Coach Kate Dudley and Allison Dudley and captains Sabrina Wooster, Claire Pryzbocki, and Brooke Butler, the girls have only lost one game and they keep improving throughout the season. They have shocked other teams with their comebacks and outbursts in each game.

Junior and forward Emma Mcgaha stated that the teams biggest accomplishment this season is “Beating Linganore for the first time this year.”

Oakdale has always been rivals with Linganore, but this season they finally won against them.

Oakdale is in the Gambrill Division and as of now, they are in first. With only three games left to play, the girls must win all of them in order to stay in first place to compete in the CMC championship game. This is the county tournament, and Oakdale now has a chance this year. The tournament will be held on October 20th and there should be quite an interesting turnout.

The team is not only a family on the field, but as well as off the field. They have a “leadership committee” that plans pasta and ice cream parties. During these events the players have time to talk and become closer. Through long practices after school and workouts over the summer, players have become closer as a team which has led to a better turnout.

Senior and captain Wooster exclaimed that the team is “keeping each other motivated and going 100% at practices.”

Players are doing their best to make fans and coaches happy. Therefore, fans should continue to watch the remainder of the games to cheer on the Oakdale bears.
