Performer of the Month: Christina Holt

Performer+of+the+Month%3A+Christina+Holt

By Natalie Flynn

The Pawprint is doing a series on people “of the month” for the month of March. In light of the spring musical, Cinderella, we decided to pick a performer in the show to feature in an article.

Senior, Christina Holt has been selected as performer of the month, for her part in playing Ella in this year’s spring musical “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella”. The show opens at 7:00 on Thursday, March 30th in the Oakdale High School auditorium.

Christina has been a part of the spring musical for all four years she has attended OHS, including playing Hodle in last year’s production of “Fiddler on the Roof”. She says she wanted to try out for the play this year because it’s “always a fun experience”, and because she enjoys performing together with friends.

“You can never expect anything when you audition,” Christina said, when asked if she had anticipated getting the role. She was happy when she found out, but she hadn’t expected it beforehand.

Ella sings two solos, but also takes part in songs with other characters, especially Topher, the prince. Christina says the coolest thing about the character “is the magic around her, how she transforms from a peasant to a princess on stage.”

She says the most stressful parts of the role are remembering everything and trying not to let the directors and the rest of the cast down.

Senior, Sara Reagan is the student director of the production. “She’s my best friend,” Reagan said, when asked what it was like working with Christina. They’ve known each other for awhile, and have a good relationship, so “things are pretty smooth.”

Tickets for Oakdale’s production “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella” are currently on sale for opening night, as well as for performances on Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st. Be sure to wish Christina and the other cast members luck before the performance!
