Prom 2024 has come and gone and it was a night to remember. Prom is one of the biggest nights of the school year and is very exciting for juniors and seniors. This year’s prom was held at the Clarion Inn Frederick Event Center on May 17, from 7-10pm.

The theme for prom this year was Fire and Ice. Getting ready for prom night can be very stressful for some, along with being expensive. Buying dresses, suits/tuxedos, shoes, getting hair and nails done, jewelry, flowers, etc, can all add up. Even though it can be a stressful and sometimes costly process, prom night is one of the biggest nights of a students’ high school experience.

Many make plans for before and after the dance. “Before prom, my friends [and I] took pictures at a wedding venue then went to dinner. Afterwards my group of friends went back to one of my friends’ house and all hung out,” shared Junior Gabby Miscenich.

There are a lot of different aspects to prom and some are favorites for many. Between the decorations/setup, music, and food, there’s a lot of things to look forward to.

“My favorite part was probably the group of people I went with because I’m really close with all of them and getting to share these memories with them was really fun,” Miscenich explains.

This year’s prom was mainly planned by the Junior Class Club who designed ideas for most of the decorations and tickets. Leading up to prom, they had also organized a spirit week like Oakdale does most years.

The prom theme is always chosen by the student body. According to most students, this year’s decorations went “above and beyond.”

“I think the decorations looked really cool and matched the theme very well. The balloon decor was definitely my favorite of them,” voiced Sophomore Johanna Brashear.

A huge part of prom night is obviously the music and DJ. This sets the vibe for the students and the dance itself. “I thought the DJ was pretty good, he played a lot of popular songs that a lot of people know and that are very hype,” Miscenich states.

In the end, prom 2024 was for sure a night to remember and created lots of new memories for everyone who attended.
