Every year Spotify releases their annual Spotify Wrapped, giving every listener a detailed and unique assessment of their music habits throughout the year. It’s always exciting to get to see the data collected that year, and what it says about 

Spotify Wrapped tells each listener what artists were listened to the most, by presenting a top 5 chart.. A few years ago, Spotify made a feature that describes the personalities of listeners based off of music trends. Some of these personality types include ‘The Top Charter,’ who is sure to always always be listening to the top hits; ‘The Early Adopter,’ who often plays mixes of trending songs; and ‘The Connoisseur,’ who enjoys listening to timeless and popular songs on repeat. Spotify also goes as far as to make a playlist specific to every user. Everyone has different taste in music, and listens to it in different amounts. 

Widener University freshman Victoria Bishop had a matching top artist and genre this year: “My top genre was R&B and my top artist was Brent Faiyaz.” Bishop shared that she, “really enjoy(s) the part where it tells you how many artists you have listened to throughout the year.” It is definitely fun to get an idea of how broad of a listener one is. 

Senior at Tuscarora High School Gabby Snyder shares that her top artists this year were Taylor Swift, Zach Bryan, Harry Styles, Noah Kahan and Vance Joy. Her top genre was pop. 

Clearly Snyder and Bishop’s music taste differs; however, both seem to share a similar opinion about Spotify Wrapped.  Snyder agrees that she, “look(s) forward to seeing it every year because I like to look back on what I’ve listened to this year and who my top artists were.“

It would seem that Spotify Wrapped 2023 was a hit this year! One can only imagine what creative ideas Spotify will come up with for 2024. People from all over can look forward to seeing how their music taste has changed or stayed the same throughout the coming year.
