There has been lots of speculation about when, where, and how Taylor Swift will be announcing her next re-recorded album, Reputation. She has dropped many hints about it, and this causes many fans to theorize about what will happen when it is announced.
One popular theory was that Swift was going to announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) during the first weekend of her second leg of her world tour, The Eras Tour. People believed this to be true because when she released 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on October 27, it seemed like she was dropping some very big hints. “In one of her lyric videos, she spelled out “R-E-P-T-V,” which left many fans thinking that she would announce Reputation in Buenos Aires, which would be the next time she was seeing her fans since the album drop,” longtime Taylor Swift fan Hannah LeSage explained.
While some fans believe that the announcement can’t come soon enough, there are a few who want Swift to wait longer. “I hope she waits longer than when she released Speak Now and 1989. It felt a little rushed,” Sophomore Samantha Perry stated. Perry was referring to when Taylor Swift waited less than a month between releasing Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and announcing 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Many people believe that it didn’t give Speak Now enough time in the spotlight and are hoping that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) gets the time they believe it deserves.
Swift’s previous re-recordings have been infamous for their vault tracks. Whether it’s with a heartfelt ballad or a very poppy song, she constantly blows people away with her songwriting. “Her vault tracks so far have been amazing, especially Red’s. I can’t imagine what she has in store for Reputation. I’m so excited to hear them,” Junior Emily Lockard explained.
Reputation was an album that revolved around Swift’s old relationship with actor Joe Alwyn. It was a very dark time in Swift’s life, with rumors and lies being spread about her, but this relationship was what got her through this hardship, and this was what the album was almost entirely about.
In around February 2023, it got out that Swift and Alwyn had broken up, and many fans worry that her re-recording of Reputation is going to sound different because of it: ”I think it will. I hope she’s more passionate, especially because she’s in love right now,” Perry mentioned, referring to Swift’s sparking romance with tight end on the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce.
Although Reputation has lots of hits, the lesser-known ones, such as “Gorgeous”, “Getaway Car”, and “Call It What You Want” tend to be the fan favorites. The fans like that these songs are lighter and more upbeat than some of the other songs on Reputation, which are about revenge or are just very intense. The fans that prefer these songs have really high hopes for the re-recordings and the vault tracks that are similar. LeSage answered that she’s most excited about these songs being re-recorded: “I would say maybe Getaway Car and Delicate-I’m really excited for them.”
Reputation has been a fan-favorite album for a long time, considering it was Swift’s biggest “comeback” album. Many fans are very excited to hear what she has in store for the vault songs. Even though Swift is broken up with who Reputation was originally written about, people believe that she cares more about how the song sounds than who it was written about, and still have high hopes for the album sounding just as genuine.
