The Best Hangouts of Frederick
December 22, 2020
Relationships are hard enough, especially in high school. Add in a global pandemic and there seems to be virtually no chance in finding a relationship; even friendships are starting to dry up due to the fact that we just haven’t seen each other.
However, there are many cool dating spots in the area that are pandemic safe.
One of the most popular date sites around Frederick is Downtown Frederick. There are several different date options available.
The first is Baker Park. There you can find several different historical parts of Frederick, and it has a nice open scenery great for picnics and hikes.
There are many fun businesses Downtown that are still operating through the pandemic, like Surelocked in Escape Games. There you can choose from six different escape rooms. If you’re having trouble deciding which room to try, there is a guide at the bottom of their website.
Another fun business to try out is I Made This Pottery. There you can choose from a pre made ceramic, and make your own personal artwork.
When you get hungry there are several options. If you’re in the mood for Mexican, Lapaz , Cacique, and Cafe Bueno are your go-to choices.
If you want a healthier option, The Orchard , Hippy Chick Hummus , and Cafe Nola are really tasty and have a good vibe.
For the sweet tooth’s there are many options. The Candy Kitchen has been a favorite since 1902. There are more options like Frederick Fudge and Ice cream and Glory Doughnuts which have vegan options.
Some Downtown favorites that are must tries are Pretzel and Pizza Creations , which uses pretzel dough as their pizza dough. Reed Fliegel (Junior) was originally unsure of how the two would taste when combined, but then it became his favorite restaurant: “The pretzel pizza seems like a bad idea, but it’s actually so good. I love that place.”
Born and Raised, which was previously known as Family meal, which was owned by Top Chef Allstar, Ryan Voltagio. A more formal option would be Tasting Room , which is a really sexy, more elegant restaurant.
Outside downtown, there are many adventurous options. Cut sunflowers and eat fresh ice cream at Rocky Point Creamery. Go ziplining at Tree Trekkers. Or even take a trip to the zoo at Catoctin Wildlife Preserve.
If you want to enjoy the wilderness there are many beautiful hiking spots in the area. Gambrill State Park has a really nice overlook along with Sugar Loaf which is a little bit outside of Frederick. There are also many trails around our local neighborhood in Lake Linganore that lead to a cliff, a dam, or even Indian caves.
“I love the hiking trails here, they are very pretty and peaceful. Plus there’s lots of cute animals,” said Claire Segura (Junior).
