Video Games of 2020

Chloe Carlton, Writer

As the year comes to an end, there have been many things that people have done to stay sane. Some people have worked on themselves by working out and eating healthier, while others have been couch potatoes. But many have been playing video games. There have been many truly epic releases when it comes to video games that have come out this year. But which game was the best. A poll was run to find out just that.

Some people could not choose just one. Senior Nathan Gull had said, “Rainbow Six Siege or CyberPunk2077.”

While others such as Gabriel Lipman, senior,  just said, ”Hades.”

The poll takers were asked to explain why those video games they named were their favorites. Some who named online games like “Among Us” Christian VanHorn said.

Or Gull saying “Rainbow Six Siege” explained that they can play with their friends while staying safe from Covid-19.

Others such as Daisie Stein explained why Genshin Impact was her favorite game. “The story, characters, scenery, exploration, music, and events are my favorite parts of this game.” Stein also stated. “The world in the game is huge and is only getting bigger, the characters are aesthetically pleasing and have great voice actors/actresses, and the developers are constantly asking for feedback from the community.”

When asked about how video games have changed throughout the years, the most common answer was that they look more realistic. Interestingly enough, VanHorn had a different approach. “Video games haven’t exactly changed, it’s more so production of the video game and how long it takes for games to release or updates to the game to come out.”

There have been many big name games that came out this year such as Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, Last of Us Part II, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. There was even a Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons just to name a few. But in the end, the most common game that was said to be a favorite was Cyberpunk 2077.
