Gaver Farm is a seasonal fall fun festival with lots of activities and things to do. Gaver Farm first opened in 1978 and is a family farm. It is located in Mount Airy, MD. They open for the fall season September 1st – October 31st daily from 10am until 6pm. For the Christmas season, they are open for trees from Black Friday to December 23rd. The opening time changes to 9am until 5pm daily.
Gaver is a beautiful, fun, historic farm with picnic areas, school tours, birthday parties, a free hayride to pick your own pumpkins, apples, sunflowers, a corn maze, games, slides, animals you can feed, a zip line, a jumping pillow, and much more. There are over 50 attractions.
Senior Emma Dees, who has been working there for two years, stated, “I like the corn maze and being able to pet all the animals there.” There is something to do for all the kids.
Senior Jordyn Turner, who worked at Gaver last year and visits yearly with her family said, “The hayride, the pumpkin patch and the apple orchard are my favorite activities to do there.”
The food at Gaver is delicious with many different fall foods/drinks to choose from including the fall shakeup, the donut sundae, apple slushies, apple cider donuts, apple pie, and much more. If you are a fan of apple cider donuts, then this is your place! The food is a bit overpriced, but definitely worth it.
Their cafe is also open during the Christmas season and comes with hot and cold drinks, hot beef sandwiches, their famous hot apple cider donuts and hot cocoa made with real milk. Dees comments,“The food is really good, especially their donuts because that’s what they’re known for and they’re homemade and they add new foods every year.”
Working here is also very enjoyable. Dees stated, “There’s many activities to do and I like meeting new people. Work goes by so fast with all the activities to do there and it keeps me busy.” It is a fun, easy job for teenagers and you will meet a lot of coworkers that will be your age.
Dees expresses, “I like doing the fun crew and seeing kids excited and having fun.”
Turner also made a comment about her experience working here: “I liked working at Gaver because I already knew a bunch of people who worked there so whatever shift I got put in, I knew some of my friends and I met a lot of new people that go to the schools near me.”
Gaver Farm is a thrilling place to visit with overall amazing farm food and kid friendly activities. Despite the overpriced food, it’s definitely worth it and you won’t regret taking a visit here this fall and Christmas season!
