On Friday, October 6, 2023, Drake’s new and much anticipated album, For All the Dogs was released. Like any other album, fans share mixed reactions about how the songs on the album compare to their expectations.
After Drake’s joint album with 21 Savage, Her Loss, came out in November 2022, many couldn’t wait to see what he had to bring next. On this album, he had collaborations with artists like SZA, J. Cole, Chief Keef, Sexyy Red, Snoop Dogg, Sade, Teezo Touchdown, Bad Bunny, Yeat, 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, and PARTYNEXTDOOR. He added a new collaboration by making the album cover a doodle that his son had made.
For All the Dogs is a 23-piece album containing popular songs like “Daylight,” “First Person Shooter,” and “Fear of Heights.” However, a common fan favorite is the song “8 a.m. in Charlotte.” As freshman Elliott Mitchell said, “It reminds me of the old Drake.”
Although this album seems like a favorite, many fans agree that it didn’t live up to what it was made out to be.
Mitchell claims that Drake should “make the album shorter because it was really long with 23 songs.”
Adding on another Freshman Jaiden Wheeler says, “I feel like he should collaborate with other artists and not just the same artists he always sings or raps with.”
Both listeners have the same feelings about Drake albums, all essentially sounding the same and having no diversity amongst each other. While Wheeler mentions, “I mean, they are all pretty good, but this one was just much longer.”
Mitchell continues to say, “I think he has better ones, but this one is still pretty good.”
However, it seems like Mitchell wasn’t a huge fan of the song with Sexyy Red, “Rich Baby Daddy.” He describes it as “really bad because it was just about random stuff, and it’s really, really bad. I don’t like it.”
Even though fans seem to have either very positive or very negative things to say about Drake’s new album, many of them agree that there was room for improvement.. Fingers crossed that Drake’s next album will be much more diverse and meet fans expectations better.
