October 10th is the date in everyone’s mind, and for good reason: it’s probably the 2nd most important school dance a person will ever attend in their high school career. That’s right–it’s Homecoming, and it’s right around the corner. Tickets are $20 and are sold during lunch shifts this week, Monday, October 5th through Friday, October 9th, which happens to also be known as Spirit Week.
Spirit Week is organized to rally spirit for the school in general but particularly the football team. It works by encouraging students to wear certain kinds of clothing items on certain days. Monday is American Day, Tuesday is Twin Day, Wednesday is Wacky Tacky, Thursday is Tourist Day, and Friday is Class Color. Freshman are supposed to wear white, Sophomores wear black, Juniors wear grey, and Seniors are supposed to wear tye-dye.
On Friday there will also be a Pep Rally to get everyone pumped for the football game against Linganore that will be following that night. After the game SGA is holding a bonfire with free admission for students as long as they present their student I.D.
The day after that is Homecoming itself– so if you’re bringing a student from another school you need to have an approved guest form (found with Ms. Miller, Ms. Mulcahy or Ms.Turowski) before you are permitted to buy tickets. The theme is Mardi Gras and it will be held in the cafeteria, Saturday, October 10 8-11 PM.
