The Champions League: what is it? This league is essentially the European version of the American Super Bowl, except for soccer. Simply put, this is a tournament for the best of the best in Europe.

Each year, the best teams from all the major leagues such as the English Premier League, Bundesliga from Germany, La Liga Santander from Spain, Ligue 1 from France, and Calcio A from Italy. The top teams from those leagues are selected and put in a tournament to see which club is the best of the best. Unlike the World Cup which highlights nations, this tournament brings all the greatest teams and players to compete against each other.

The big question all soccer fans are asking is who will win the Champions League. It’s hard to say as all the teams in the tournament are fantastic.

One of the best teams in the tournament is FC Barcelona with the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the starting eleven. Not only do they have two of the greatest forwards in the world, but they have a very solid defense to defend their goal. They are the second favorite to win this year.

Another great team participating is Real Madrid. With Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos playing for them, they have a great chance of scoring goals and stopping attacks.

They will want to try and retain their title after winning the Champions League for the past 3 years despite losing their best player, Cristiano Ronaldo, to Juventus. They did, however secure one of the best goalkeepers in the world over the summer on their roster, Thibaut Courtois.

Liverpool FC also has a great team running in. Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will be leading their attack giving them a strong chance of scoring the most goals in the tournament. Salah led the English Premier League in goals with a record breaking 37 goals in 55 appearances in games.

Sophomore Ryan Davis, “believes that Liverpool FC will win the Champions League because of their attack and ability to score more goals than their opponents.”.

Juventus, an Italian club including Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo, are on of many in their attack giving them a lot of goal scoring chances. They made it to the 2016 final but lost 4-1 to Real Madrid.

Manchester City is the most favored team to win after victory in the English Premier League in the 2017 to 2018 season.They won 32 out of the 38 games they played last season.

They won the La Liga Santander and have a solid team going in to win the tournament. Whether they will be able to perform in the biggest tournament in Europe depends on the coaching and playing.

Davis also thought the leading goal scorer would be Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint German in goals and the tournament. Davis also believes that the runner up will be Juventus because of their attack from forwards Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala.

The Champions League is the biggest tournament in Europe and every soccer fan is very anxious for the round of 16 to start.
