Singer and songwriter Billie Eilish announced her third studio album in an Instagram post on April 8, 2024. Fans flooded her comments saying Hit Me Hard and Soft will be the album of the year.
Freshman Chloe Miller is a longtime fan of Eilish: “I always keep up with Billie on Instagram and so when I heard she was dropping another album I was so excited and happy that she’s finally releasing something,” exclaimed Miller.
Leading up to the announcement, Eilish was giving her fans hints about her new album and a few lyrics. Along with 15-20 second clips from some of her songs on social media, Eilish gave sneak peaks of three songs from Hit Me Hard and Soft at her Coachella performance.
“I’m really excited to see the versatility that Hit Me Hard and Soft will have, just from hearing the snippets in the past few weeks from Chihiro and Lunch! I’m so ready to hear how different it will be from Happier Than Ever and When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go,” states Miller, “I think that Hit Me Hard and Soft will have varying genres and it’s going to have a feel that fans have not necessarily seen or heard from Billie, considering how long it’s been since her last album.”
With Eilish’s announcement there was a major incident involving the Rolling Stones magazine. On April 8, the same day Hit Me Hard and Soft was announced, the Rolling Stones magazine leaked all ten song names on the album. Eilish was mad at the magazine for leaking her song names and shared her anger on Instagram. Even still, the anticipation for the album rises. On May 15-16, 2024, Eilish will hold listening parties for her fans in New York City, New York, and Los Angeles, California. For listeners who can’t attend the listening parties, Eilish is going to follow Taylor Swift and Beyonce and bring her tour to AMC theaters!
