Frederick Flying Cows team lines up for their first ever game.

The Frederick Flying Cows is a TBL (The Basketball League) professional basketball team based in Frederick, Maryland. Opening night for the Flying Cows was on Saturday March 2, 2024 against the Reading Rebels. The Frederick Flying Cows is something new and exciting coming to Frederick.

A lot of people may be wondering what the idea was behind this organization. “The idea was to build a product with three areas of emphasis, we want to have a team that is consistently competitive and strives for success,” voiced one of the general managers for the Flying Cows, Jackson Kantor.

“We would like to give a lot of entertainment to the fans and we want to be able to bring the community together and allow them to experience this with us”, added Chris Jenkins, the other manager for the team.

There were a lot of people who inspired this team to come together. It was a long time in the making, but team management is hopeful for it to be a big success. “Our team market owners, Tony Mazlish and Michael Witt, came up with the idea for the team after researching the league we play in,” Kantor shared.

All games for the Flying Cows will be held at the Hood College Athletic Center (BB&T Arena) on Hood’s campus. They are scheduled to play 12 home games in Frederick, and 12 away games. The league playoffs will begin in June 2024.

Kantor and Jenkins both have high hopes for this team and want to get a lot out of it. “We hope to be a source of community engagement, and give people something fun and entertaining to look forward to,” Jenkins stated.

This new team is bringing excitement into the community of Frederick and everyone is excited to watch all of their successes this upcoming season!
