On December 9th at midnight, Sza’s long awaited album, SOS, was released with fans dying to hear the new soundtrack. The album features guest appearances such as Phoebe Bridgers, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Travis Scott, and Don Toliver. Ever since her first album, Ctrl, SZA has been one of the most successful R&B artists in the music industry.

SOS consists of 23 songs with a staggering run time of 68 minutes. Although it took a while for the album to come out, it was definitely worth the wait. Sza’s fan group consists of mostly teenage and young women.

Senior Anna King expresses, “I think a lot of girls can relate to her music from having insecurities about boys, exes, and missing someone.”

In less than a day, SOS was quickly spread across the internet with fans loving the wide selection of diversity. The track “Smoking on My Ex Pack” and “Far” shows her exhaustion in a relationship that no longer serves purpose. While the song “Conceited” and “Forgiveness,” talks about how you don’t need to rely on a man to find happiness in life.

Sza included her previously released singles “Good Days,” “I Hate U,” and “Shirt” on the album. Even with all the new songs she released, some fans are still gushing over her previous hits.

Senior Jessica Ortiz shares, “‘I hate you’ from SZA is one of my favorite songs because I feel like it helps me release/express my feelings of disliking something or someone, like an ex for example.”

Ever since the release, “Kill Bill” is the most popular song on the album. In the song it talks about her ex being in a relationship with another girl. She sings about wanting to kill her ex so no one else can be with him.

Although “Kill Bill” is the top listened to song on the album, the fans have different opinions of their own. Ortiz states “‘Special’ by SZA is so relatable with past tense relationships/situationships.”

King shares her favorite song on the album: “I like the song ‘Blind’ because of the melody and her voice.”

The album conveys how being in a relationship with someone, no matter how terrible the relationship, is better than being alone. Sza sings about falling in love just for it to turn into an unhealthy relationship.

Many people can agree that the long-awaited full-length album was worth the wait. Die-hard fans are excited to see what Sza brings in the future.
