SNK or Koutetsu no Kabaneri?

SNK+or+Koutetsu+no+Kabaneri%3F

By Kaleb Fullbright

Many people are excited for Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) Season 2. The first season was great and very popular, but Koutetsu no Kabanari (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) is another anime releasing this year for which I am excited.

Shingeki no Kyojin revolves around a boy named Eren Jaeger who has spent all of his life in a closed area surrounded by large walls built to protect the people from humanoid creatures called Titans that have an appetite for humans. After some hardships Eren finds himself in the Survey Corps, the people who go out and try to kill Titans. The second season revolves around the following events; as for what will happen in the second season, not much is known. (source: Prior knowledge)

Shingeki

Koutetsu no Kabaneri’s synopsis is this: when the world is in the middle of an industrial revolution, a monster appears that cannot be defeated unless its heart, which is protected by a layer of iron, is pierced. By infecting humans with its bite, the monster can create aggressive and undead creatures known as Kabane. On the island Hinomoto, located in the far East, people have built stations to shelter themselves from these creatures. People access the station, as well as transport wares between them, with the help of a locomotive running on steam, called Hayajiro. Ikoma, a boy who lives in the Aragane station and helps to build Hayajiro, creates his own weapon called Tsuranukizutsu in order to defeat the creatures. One day, as he waits for an opportunity to use his weapon, he meets a girl named Mumei, who is excused from the mandatory Kabane inspection. During the night, Ikuma meets Mumei again as he sees Hayajiro going out of control. The staff on the locomotive has turned into the creatures. The station, now under attack by Kabane, is the opportunity Ikoma has been looking for. (Source: MAL News)

Shingeki no Kyojin

Pros

Shingeki no Kyojin will have an ongoing story which will allow people who watched the first season have some closure. The first season was closed in a weird manner so the new season should fix all of that. Multiple genres: (Action, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen, Super Power)

Cons

The art style is a bit awkward. Because the first season ended weirdly the second season has to pick it all up and fix it in the first one to two episodes, or it’ll get boring. Lastly the first season was 25 episodes long and the chance of the second season having that length is slim; it’ll most likely be 12-13 episodes instead. Animation is only in 30 frames per second (fps).

Koutetsu no Kabaneri

Pros

The story is brand new, allowing people who don’t know what previously transpired to immediately be in the action. The art style will be flawless and the animation is supposed to be 60 fps. It’s the first season to the show so it’ll most likely be 24-25 episodes.

Cons

The show will be in 1080p with 60fps which can be hard for some PCs or phones to run. It’s not that popular of a show so it might actually have only 12-13 episodes; it’s hard to make perfect assumptions on the amount of episodes a show will have. Only has one genre as of right now: (Action).

“I’m more excited for Koutetsu no Kabaneri” stated Sophomore Brennan Capicchioni. “I find it more interesting, plus I already know most of the story of Attack on Titan.”

“I’m more excited for Shingeki no Kyojin,” Junior Jordan Goodman and Junior Joseph Grimes stated. “There was a lot of unfulfillment.”

As for myself I am more excited for Koutetsu no Kabaneri. I can’t wait for the art style and frames, but I’m also excited for Shingeki no Kyojin. They are both going to be very good.
