Well known shows like The Simpsons or South Park are some of the most famous adult animated sitcoms of all time. Each show has a different type of style and comedy, but which is the better adult animated sitcom?

Some of the most popular adult sitcoms ever are from the 1990’s and 2000’s. Students from Oakdale High School were offered to take a poll on which they thought was the best adult animated sitcom. 

For the highest percentage, there was a tie between The Simpsons and South Park with 31%. The Simpsons released their first episode in 1989, while South Park released theirs in 1997. 

The Simpsons has been around much longer than South Park to compete for the number one adult animated sitcom, but according to Rotten Tomatoes, The Simpsons have an 85% while South Park has a 80%. Sophomore Andrew Winkler describes South Park: “Usually in all of the shows the adults are causing the trouble. Where in South Park, the kids are the main characters and causing the most trouble. That’s what makes it a better show.”

The second highest percentage is Family Guy with 22%. The show started in 1999 so still was not made before The Simpsons and South Park, but has one of the worst Rotten Tomato reviews with 46%.  

With a show being out for more than twenty years, most would imagine it getting a better review. The only reason the show has continued is because the comedy of the show is not like any other. Sophomore Patrick O’Neal shares his opinion on his favorite animated adult sitcom: ”My favorite is Family Guy because it’s been around for so long and all of the comedies they have just makes me laugh.”

Coming in with the third highest is another tie between Rick and Morty and King of the Hill with 8%. King of the Hill was released the same year as South Park and also has a good review of 83% by Rotten Tomatoes. The only thing that is different about this show than all the other shows is that the show ended in 2008.

Rick and Morty is one of the newest adult sitcoms, but has turned out to be one of the most popular over time. The show began in 2014 and has had the best Rotten Tomato review out of the list of shows with a 93%rating with only having 6 seasons. Rick and Morty was released after all of the other shows and has a better review, but how? Everyone has their own opinion, so it all depends on the theme of the show and if the audience likes it or not.
