Youtube and podcasts are both meant for everyone to enjoy and help reduce stress, while Youtube started in 2005, podcasts were released in late 2004. Which platform is becoming more popular among the students at Oakdale?
First it comes down to what the students enjoy. While some people are more of a visible person, watching would be more suitable for them to do. While other students may enjoy listening instead of watching; therefore, podcasts would be better for them.
Josef Miller, a senior at Oakdale, stated, “I am personally more of a visible person.” While podcasts don’t really have anything visible to see like games, unless you like watching people talk.
Freshman Cassidy Austin mentioned, “I am more of a watcher than a listener.” That helps more with interests such as food videos or “how to” videos. On the other hand, the mystery genre can be viewed by both a podcast and on Youtube.
Daniel Ruby, a writer from Demandsage, claimed, “Podcasts are better for engagement because people can listen at their own pace.” This can be true but not everyone likes to just listen.
Josef Miller expressed, “When I come home from school, there is usually not a lot of time to watch Youtube or listen to any podcasts.”
While Youtube seems to be more popular, podcasts can also be well-liked if you prefer longer videos and are more of a listener than a watcher. Podcasts can also be better if you like to multi-task or if you like news. Youtube is better if you like gaming videos or challenge videos.
There can be changes that can make people flip-flop, such as interests or what they can handle, but mostly it depends on what they like the best.
