9/26

(Not part of the video) – Tomorrow, Thursday 9/27, we will have Academic Awards Ceremonies by grades.  Seniors who are being recognized should report to the cafeteria by 7:30am, Juniors should report to the cafeteria by 9:00am, and sophomores should report to the cafeteria by 1:00pm.  Students earned the recognition based on having a 3.5 or higher unweighted GPA from last school year.  Only those students being recognized will be released from class to attend the ceremony. Teachers have a list of the students attending.  See Mrs. Kirby in the AP office with any questions.

“Every year, five high school seniors from Frederick County have the opportunity to work in the state legislature in Annapolis as a student page.  This is an excellent opportunity for seniors who have an interest in government and politics. Past OHS students who have served as pages in the Maryland General Assembly said it was an outstanding experience.  Interested students should see Mr. Smarick in B108 for more information.”

There will be a meeting for present members of the National Honor Society on Thursday, September 27 at 2:20 in the auditorium.

“The Academic Team is having an informational meeting this Friday during SET.  We are looking for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who are interested in competing in teams answering questions on various topics, from music to math, to history to Harry Potter, to science and sports.  Please see Mr. Smarick in B108 or Ms. Morgenthaler in B114 if interested. Again, we will meet this Friday during SET.”

There will be a baseball meeting on Tuesday, Oct 2nd in coach Mills’ room, B230, immediately after school. This meeting will be brief.  See coach Mills with questions.

One out of every 7 students in Maryland Public Schools does not know if they will have three meals to eat every day.  Oakdale High School is working to help those in need by hosting a food drive from Monday, October 1st until November 2nd.  You can bring donations in to your first period class as the class who gathers the most donations will win a free breakfast.  If your class is not participating in the drive, you can bring donations to Ms. Porter in Room A225. Last year OHS gathered 882 pounds of food so this year our goal is 1,000 pounds.  The food gathered will help those right here in Frederick County.
