2020 TOPSS Competition for High School Psychology Students

High school psychology students are invited to write an essay of no more than 3,000 words that addresses the topic of psychology in politics. The essay should discuss psychological concepts that can help in understanding political polarization, and how psychological science can explain how individuals and groups of like-minded individuals might look at identical information and draw different conclusions. Students will conclude by describing ways in which applying psychological science to aspects of politics might reduce partisanship and increase discourse. Up to four winners will be selected for this year’s competition, each of whom will receive a $250 award.  The deadline for submission is March 9, 2020.
