Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors:  Do you have a GPA of 3.75 or higher? Are you involved in community service? You could be nominated for the Carson Scholars Program for 2019-20. Carson scholars must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 or higher (unweighted) in combined academic subjects.  All nominees must demonstrate humanitarian qualities in their schools and communities above and beyond what is required.  Scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic achievement and humanitarian qualities, without regard to financial need, ethnicity, creed or religion. If you would like to be considered for nomination by Oakdale High School, please see Mrs. Krivos in the Counseling Office by Thursday, December 5, 2019.  Only one student from each school may be nominated.

Are you interested in Poetry Out Loud? Do you love watching spoken word or Button Poetry videos? You can be a part of the national Poetry Out Loud competition starting at the schoolwide level. The OHS Poetry Out Loud competition will be held December 6th during 5th block in the auditorium. Anyone interested in participating as a performer or even as an observer, please see Mrs. Showalter in A208. She will begin to offer SET sessions to help coach Poetry Out Loud participants. JV Girls Lacrosse There will be a meeting in Coach Eyler’s room after school on Thursday, November 21st for indoor. All girls interested in playing jv lacrosse in the spring should attend.

All Ambassadors and Ambassadors-In-Training!!! On Friday, there will be a meeting of all students in the Ambassador Program in the AUX gym. This is our quarterly gathering for reflection and some fun. We will also have our yearbook photo taken that day. Light snacks will be provided.

Come see the winter sports teams face off in the 5th Annual Polar Plunge Volleyball game during block 5 on Tuesday, November 26th. Ticket sales will be Wednesday, November 20th through Monday November 25th during all lunch shifts for $5. All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Maryland. See you there
