Rivals clashed this past Friday with the Oakdale Bears beating the Linganore Lancers by 19 points in a heated varsity football game. The end score was 28-9, Bears.

This continues Oakdale’s undefeated stand of being 6-0, while Linganore dropped to 4-2.

Oakdale held a strong lead during the first half, scoring four touchdowns, but Linganore stopped them from scoring anymore after halftime. Linganore never scored a touchdown during the game, only 3 field goals.

Two touchdowns were scored by Collin Schlee and Bryce Demaille, according to sophomore Zach Watkins, who is also on the team.

As Linganore was nearing a touchdown during the second half, the pass was intercepted beautifully by Oakdale junior Noah Miller, stopping Linganore from scoring.

Coach Stein, head football coach, says, “I thought our defense was really good this past Friday.” The defense stopped the Lancers attempts to score multiple times, keeping their ability down to only scoring field goals.

Danish exchange students, Jonas Kragh and Jakob Lunde attended the game. Lunde stated, “It was nothing like we have at home back in Denmark.” Kragh expressed, “It was festive, and a happy atmosphere.” The Danish students aren’t used to school-based team sports, so this was a new experience for them to have. They enjoyed attending the game and seeing what American school sports were like.

Student sections in the stadium roared loud with spirit as the two rival teams came down to the wire. The end score would determine if Oakdale would keep their unstoppable winning streak that they had been fighting hard to hold this season.

The bears played a good game. It was overall a great win for Oakdale, keeping their record in the season undefeated.  Wish your fellow Bears good luck on their upcoming homecoming game Friday night!
