Dance Moms is an iconic TV show that came out in 2011. The drama-filled dance reality show had eight seasons and was very successful. Recently, some of the original cast members have announced a reunion in 2024 and confirmed they were filming the event after meeting for the first time in a while.

Dancer or not, Dance Moms was a major part of many people’s childhood. Oakdale Poms team captain, Junior Emily Lockard, shared her connection with the show: “Well, I’ve been dancing since I was 3, so I kind of discovered [the show] myself since it’s like being part of the dance world.” Lockard appreciated the fact that there was a show made to highlight the lives of dancers.

Not shockingly enough, the majority of the viewers don’t necessarily watch it for the dancing.

Freshman Isabella Toppert claimed, “When they would all fight,” was her favorite moments in the show.

She continued with: “Like when Jill would argue with everyone; it was so funny and iconic, or when Abby made all the girls get off the stage because they lost.” Like many viewers, Toppert mainly watched the show for the drama aspect over the dance.

I really liked the dancing because sometimes I feel like the dances are unappreciated because of all the drama and stuff, but I think people forget how talented those girls were at such a young age, which is something I really enjoyed.

— Emily Lockard

Even with all the drama circulating around the show, whether it is from the moms, the girls, or even the coach, Abby Lee Miller, the show was made to revolve around dance and highlight the life of a dancer. Lockard stated, “I really liked the dancing because sometimes I feel like the dances are unappreciated because of all the drama and stuff, but I think people forget how talented those girls were at such a young age, which is something I really enjoyed.” Lockard admired how talented and determined those girls were, even at the young ages of five or six.

Surprisingly enough, even with the cast members reuniting, the leader who started it all, Abby Lee Miller, will not be making a return. Miller has always had drama with all of the girls, whether it came to nitpicking them or verbally abusing them. It is no shock to hear that the girls don’t want to include her in the reunion. Even fans weren’t surprised to hear this.

Overall, looking back at all of these significant moments throughout the show, fans are exhilarated for an original cast reunion. They are excited to see what the girls have to bring and how their dancing has evolved throughout the years.
