Local Contest Inspires Students to Share Their Writing

Halloween

Parker Seaman, Jackson Meade, and Evan Hayek went all out for the holiday, resembling characters from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It wasn’t uncommon for students to organize costumes within their friend groups.

Mandy Shulien and Owen Packen smile brightly before morning classes start in their creative costumes. Both students were very happy to be able to finally dress up for their senior years.

Paige Detwilier and Hayden Davis dressed as Wanda and Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents, a cartoon originally played on Nickelodeon. They represented the cartoon fairies by each wearing a set of wings, a wand, ‘floating’ crowns, and coloring their hair.

Julia Case, Rebecca Long, and Anna Plank did a group dalmation costume to be festive for the holiday. They all wore white spotted shirts, black leggings, and fabric to resemble dog ears to complete the look.

Sydney Katz sported the look of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. Like other students, Katz had her shirt painted in order to match her character as closely as possible.

Seniors in Journalism all dressed originally in their respective Halloween costumes. Each costume displayed their unique interests and personalities.

Students in Ms. Smith’s first block show off their creativity with their costumes. Each student had a specific pose to match their costumes, such as a lifeguard holding her sunglasses.

Language teachers Ms. Quill and Ms. Brown dressed as “spice girls”, making a fun play on words. Quill was the spice, Herbes of Provence and Brown was Canela. The teachers organized their costumes days in advance in order to perfect the look.

Friends Maddie Miller and Riley Kautz made a reference to iCarly by dressing up as a character from the show, T-bow. They represented the character by wearing a similar uniform to T-bow, wearing bandanas, and holding bagels on a stick.

Ariana Williams and Sarah Lamarre threw back to the nineties by referencing the movie, Clueless. Lamarre went as Cher, the main character, and Williams as Dionne, the best friend.

Preschoolers in Child Development are able to go classroom-to-classroom to trick or treat for Halloween. They dressed up as their favorite characters and received candy from each teacher in the school.

English 12 students enjoyed dressing up in a variety of Halloween styles. Costumes included a cowboy, witch, pickle, basketball player, scarecrow, and more.
