The long-awaited joint album by Drake and 21 Savage, Her Loss, was released at midnight on Friday, November 4th, 2022. Initially, the album was supposed to come out on October 28th, but due to unfortunate circumstances it got delayed by a week. This left fans even more eager to listen to the tracks.

The album is made up of songs that explain the two rappers’ journeys and similar life experiences such as fame, relationships, and their lives.

Her Loss is a 16-piece album containing popular songs like “Rich Flex”, “Major Distribution”, and “On BS”. These songs also showed up as fan favorites as senior Alex Lamas says, “The songs that I enjoyed the most were ‘On BS’, ‘Major Distribution’, and ‘Rich Flex’,”

In the album, tracks such as “Rich Flex”, “BackOutBoyz”, “Privileged Rappers”, and more talk about women and their past relationships. Songs like “Circo Loco”, “Middle of the Ocean”, and “Broke Boys” are about life. And “Major Distribution” and “Treacherous Twins” are about their friendship.

Although this album seems like a favorite, many fans agree that it was overhyped. Junior Cameron Horan stated, “I lowkey thought most of the songs were overhyped; I thought this album would be a lot better than what it actually was.”

Lamas adds, “I was expecting a lot more, but these songs weren’t all that.”

Multiple fans, including Horan, are disappointed in the outcome of the album. There were high hopes put forth for this album but, unfortunately, they were not met.

Reese Kaufhold, a junior, expressed mixed feelings about the album since it significantly differs from what the two rappers have previously produced on their solo albums: “Overall, I give it a 6.5/10 because it was a good album but it wasn’t, I guess, groundbreaking like the two rappers painted it to be.”

The album was a little bit overhyped. The lyrics seemed generic and repetitive, and many of the beats weren’t super impressive. More variety was expected because it is by two different artists, but no complaints about what was released.

As you can see, it is clear that myself and many other fans of the two artists aren’t satisfied with what was produced. There were high hopes for this album, but they were sadly let down. Fingers crossed that the two rappers’ next few albums will be much more diverse.
